Camping Rules

Park Authority employees and authorized volunteer staff have been trained and are obligated to enforce these rules and regulations. Failure to abide by these rules may also result in violators being ejected from the facility immediately and prohibited from future use of park property, facilities or services.

Registration Requirements

  • Campers must be at least 18 years of age to register for a campsite.
  • All campers must register with park personnel, show valid photo identification and pay the appropriate fee for their campsite(s).
  • All vehicles must display current license plate tags, registration and meet inspection requirements.
  • Camper check-in begins at noon. If you arrive after office hours, check in with the campground host or visit the office in the morning.
  • Check-out is 10 a.m. on the day of departure. Sites must be free of trash and personal belongings by check-out time.
  • All vehicles must be moved out of the campground by the designated time to avoid towing at the owner’s expense.
  • Camping stays are limited to 14 consecutive days during prime season and 28 days during the off season. After a stay, campers must vacate the site for at least four consecutive days.

Campers Responsibilities

  • Visitors must leave the campground by 10 p.m.
  • Campers must observe quiet hours between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
  • Campers under 18 years of age must be supervised by an adult.
  • Pets may not be left unattended in the campground.
  • Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
  • Campers must keep campsites clean, safe and orderly. Bag trash and place in designated areas.
  • Camping facilities — including restrooms and dumping stations — are reserved for registered campers only.

Campsites

  • Campgrounds are solely for recreational, nonresidential use.
  • Group camping is permitted only in designated areas.
  • All motorized vehicles and trailers must be parked in designated areas.
  • Tent, R.V. and Group Flex campsites are limited to two vehicles per site. Additional vehicles can use designated parking for Group Flex sites.
  • Off-road and all-terrain vehicles, service vehicles and construction equipment are prohibited. Camping or sleeping in a truck cab, automobile or on the ground without a tent is prohibited.
  • Tent and RV campsites are limited to six campers per site per night.
  • Flexible Group campsites can hold up to 18 people. Additional sites can be reserved for larger groups.
  • Large group camping sites at Lake Fairfax Park can accommodate either 50 or 100 campers, depending on the site.
  • Registered campers may use campground dumping stations, which are included in the camping fee. Dumping sewage or dishwater onto the ground is prohibited.

Campfires

  • Federal law prohibits transporting firewood, and FCPA bans customers from bringing firewood into parks. Cutting down or collecting trees, limbs or fallen trees for firewood is prohibited.  Only firewood purchased at FCPA camp stores may be used and stored on FCPA property
  • Between Feb. 1 and Apr. 30, campfires are prohibited from 12 a.m.  to 4 p.m.
  • Campfires are allowed only in steel fire rings. Grills are for charcoal use only.
  • Campfires must not be left unattended. Fires must be extinguished before retiring for the night or departing the campsite.

Cancellations and Modifications

  • Cancellations or changes made more than 60 days before arrival can be made without charge by calling the park office.
  • Cancellations or changes made 14 to 59 days before arrival will incur a $25 processing fee.
  • Cancellations or changes made 3 to 13 days before arrival will result in the loss of the first night's stay and a $25 processing fee, deducted from any remaining balance.
  • Cancellations or changes made two days or less before arrival will result in the loss of first and second nights’ stay, if applicable, and a $25 processing fee, deducted from any remaining balance.
