Park Authority RECenters System-wide Sustainability Plan

The 2015 Needs Assessment Survey revealed that residents place a high priority on recreational facilities and see a general need for upgrades across the park system. In response, the Park Authority hired Brailsford & Dunlavey, Inc. (B&D), CENTERS, and Hughes Group Architects (HGA), a nationally-recognized, independent consulting team, to develop a system-wide sustainability plan for the nine Park Authority RECenters in Fairfax County.

The project team conducted a detailed operations and program analysis, a market analysis for each RECenter’s primary service area, as well as a community interest survey and a series of focus groups throughout the county to develop a plan that would effectively and efficiently help meet the indoor recreation needs of Fairfax County residents.

The Fairfax County Park Authority will hold a public information meeting on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, to present the results of the sustainability study for future redevelopment and growth of the RECenter system throughout the county. The meeting will start at 7:00 p.m. in Conference Room 106/107 of the Herrity Building located at 12055 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, VA.
