Head outside, beyond the doors of the Rec Center for a wealth of outdoor activities to enjoy during your visit. Walk scenic trails, explore playgrounds, work on your game on outdoor courts and fields (for soccer, basketball, baseball/softball, tennis, pickleball), hit the ramps at skate parks, try a round of golf or mini-golf, and picnic with the family. Wakefield Park has 11 outdoor lighted tennis courts. Lights go out at or near 11:00 pm. These courts are open to the public as a first come first served or by reservation by calling 703-321-7927. Classes are held all year for beginner through advanced players. Private tennis lessons are also available for $25 for a ½-hour lesson and $50 for a 1-hour lesson. The Skate Park offers a chance for people of all ages and skill levels to enjoy the thrills and excitement of skateboarding, inline skating, and BMX biking on our Freestyle and Competition courses. The Freestyle course consists of bank ramps, 4 foot quarter pipe, pyramid, grind rails and a grind box. The Competition course consists of a double jump-box, euro gap, bank ramp with kicker, roll-over radius, and a grind box.
In addition to its Rec Center, Wakefield Park offers a mix of outdoor activities from Fairfax County Trails, athletic fields, Birding and Wildlife Trail, Natural Surface Trail Activities, basketball courts and tennis complex to trails and picnic areas.
