Victim Services Program

The court process can be confusing and emotional for victims.  As a victim of a crime, you have certain rights.  You are entitled to certain information, notification, and assistance as provided by Virginia's Crime Victim and Witness Rights Act (§19.2-11.01).   

Victim Services supports victims and their families as they navigate through all stages of the court process and work to recover from the effects of a crime.  All victims are treated with dignity, respect, and sensitivity.  Victim Services provides:   

  • Emotional support to victims and their families
  • Information about the criminal justice process
  • Notice of court dates, defendant status, and appeals
  • Accompanying the victim to court
  • Securing Interpreter Services
  • Restitution Information
  • Resources and Referrals
  • Confidentiality
  • Assistance filing Victim Impact Statements, Statement of Financial Loss, and Virginia Victims Fund applications
