“I enjoy volunteering at the SNAP booth and making a difference in my community.” – Bob Verela, Volunteer Market Manager at the Mount Vernon Farmers Market

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as food stamps, connects citizens in need to fresh, local foods. We offer a matching dollar program up to $20 as incentive to shoppers. We currently have SNAP programs at our McCutcheon/Mount Vernon, Reston, Lorton and Herndon locations. Volunteers run the SNAP booths where customers run their EBT cards to redeem tokens to spend at market. The program is a collaboration among Fairfax County, Arcadia, Cornerstones, and Herndon-Reston FISH.

If you are interested in volunteering for SNAP at the Herndon or Reston locations, please visit the Herndon-Reston FISH website. For the Reston location, contact Cornerstones.

If you are interested in volunteering for SNAP at the McCutcheon/ Mount Vernon or Lorton locations, please contact Community Horticulture Supervisor Pamela Smith at Pamela.Smith2@fairfaxcounty.gov
