Spellbinders - Tales of Tails

(4-Adult) Enjoy oral storytelling from countries around the world. Attendees are welcome to share a 5-minute story for ages 4 and above. From trickster tales to fables, oral stories share traditions and connect communities. Every child receives a free book.

Spring Engineering Challenge

(6-10 years) Celebrate warmer weather with an engineering challenge with a seasonal twist. Think like an engineer to solve this fun spring themed challenge.

Environmental Science & Nature Club

(8-12 years) Join naturalists for a weekly exploration of our forest and stream ecosystems. We’ll investigate the natural world through hands-on activities and experiments. Topics will supplement learning towards the VA science SOLs for grades 4-6, while in our outdoors science “lab”. Bring your curiosity and get ready for some eco-adventure.

Woodland Wildlife Egg Hunt

(3-Adult) Enjoy an easy walk to meet costumed woodland characters along the half-mile, non paved trail. Children collect 10 eggs with non-candy treats while learning how different animals raise their young. Visit the frog pond and meet a spring critter. Children must be accompanied by an adult registered in the program.

Sessions starting at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Animal Moms & Babies

(4-Adult) Spring is the time for many animals to give birth and raise young. Meet some young animals and discover how wild creatures grow and develop. Child must be accompanied by an adult also registered in this program.

Sign up for a session starting at 1:30 and 3 p.m.

Signs of Wildlife

(4-Adult) Enjoy a naturalist guided walk through the forested trails, conducted entirely in American Sign Language. Look for seasonally active wildlife. Touch biofacts like turtle shells and snakeskin. Each season brings different wildlife into view. Children must be accompanied by registered adult.
