The outdoor shelter rests in a forest setting just a few minutes' stroll from the park's nature center. It's a superb location for picnics and gatherings. A short path nearby leads to the half-mile wetland boardwalk and observation tower. Some of the best wildlife watching in the Washington metropolitan area is along that boardwalk.
For the rental application and information regarding the shelter, visit the Huntley Meadows Park Reservable Picnic Area.
This historic property was built by Thomson Francis Mason c. 1825 as a secondary residence and summer retreat. This small yet significant Federal Period villa is listed on the Virginia Landmarks and the National Register of Historic Places. The setting works well for small group gatherings and meetings.
