Reach new heights with the Park Authority's indoor climbing wall. This two-story artificial rock wall challenges everyone from beginners to advanced climbers.

The climbing wall features auto-belays as well as a bouldering area for an additional challenge. There’s a maximum occupancy of six climbers on the wall at one time. Climbers can use the Park Authority’s harnesses or bring their own (subject to staff inspection).

The climbing wall welcomes drop-in users when the Park Authority's trained attendants are available to supervise. All climbers must fill out the Climbing Wall Participation and Release Agreement. Open climbing times are listed under Mount Vernon Rec Center on the operational hours webpage, however please call the Rec Center directly at 703-768-3224 to check availability.

Get Climbing: Rules and Agreement Form

Those interested in climbing at Mount Vernon Rec Center must first fill out the Climbing Wall Participation and Release Agreement. Participants agree to follow all rules, regulations, and instructions as posted and directed by staff. This includes, but isn't limited to:

Participants must weigh a minimum of thirty pounds and a maximum of three hundred pounds to use the climbing wall. No exceptions
Climbers less than 10 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
Properly use all equipment, especially the auto belays.
Follow all safety procedures.
Do not wear any jewelry or excessively loose clothing and tie back long hair.

Please note that not following the rules may result in immediate removal from the activity and/or Rec Center. No refunds will be given.
