Burke Lake Campground FAQs

All sites are available to reserve in advance. Available site reservations may be purchased online or in person at the park office.

Group Camping is when large organized groups (15-200 people) are given a specific area to camp in depending on their size and needs

Group camping is reserved online or in person at the camp store or information office. The A-section sites are designated as Flexible group sites.

Burke Lake Park Campground does not have any water/electric hook ups. A dump station is included with your daily camping fee. If you require hook ups, please contact Lake Fairfax Park at 703-471-5415.

Burke Lake Park allows campers to stay for two consecutive weeks (14 days).

Each camping site (Family and Group) has a picnic table, a grill, a fire ring and space for at least two vehicles.

We sell reasonably priced firewood that you may purchase for your campfires. No outside firewood is permitted to be used or stored on FCPA property. Only wood bought at FCPA campgrounds is permitted to be used or stored on FCPA property.

Burke Lake Park limits each family camping site to no more than six people, and no more than two tents. Flexible sites can accommodate 18 people per site. Each site has parking for two cars.

To cancel a reservation, please call 703-323-6600 to speak with a staff member. The cancellation policy for reservations is: 

  • Cancellations/Changes more than 60 days before arrival can be made without charge by calling the park office. 
  • Cancellations/Changes 14-59 days before arrival will incur a $25 processing fee. 
  • Cancellations 2-13 days before arrival will incur a $25 processing fee and forfeiture of the first night’s stay. 
  • Cancellations 2 days or less before arrival will incur a $25 processing fee and forfeiture of the first two night’s stay.

Each person requires something different to camp. Generally what is required is a tent, sleeping bag, flash light, some food, and clothes appropriate for the weather conditions. Sleeping in a car or with out a tent (in a sleeping bag out in the open) is not allowed.

Burke Lake Park sells ice, wood, and charcoal, along with a number of other camping goods such as toaster forks, lighter fluid and much more, but does not sell or rent tents or sleeping bags. There are several retail stores in the area that sell camping equipment.

Burke Lake Park has hot/cold showers, flushing toilets, potable water spigots in the area, dump station for RV's, light camping supplies, and a playground.

Yes, we will provide directions and weather information at your request.

In the spring and fall, we tend to fill up on Saturday evenings and most Fridays by the Monday before that weekend. Weekends in the summer tend to be less crowded unless it is a holiday such as Memorial Day, the 4th of July or Labor Day.

Upon booking, campers can select their site from the available online listing or listing provided by onsite staff. It is recommended that sites are reserved early to ensure that the desired site is available for your stay.

Burke Lake Park is about 15 minutes and 8 miles from the closest metro station (The Blue Line, Springfield Metro). Please ask the camping attendant for a map at the camp store.

Burke Lake Park does allow pets to be brought, as long as they are never left unattended and are on a leash in accordance with Fairfax County Leash Laws.

Burke Lake Park is about 30-60 minutes from our Nations Capital depending on time of day, and the amount of traffic. Please ask the campground attendant for directions.

Each site provides space for two cars.  If you have additional vehicles, we do have limited designated overflow parking areas where you may leave it.

We ask that you park your vehicle at the camp store and inform a camp store attendant that you would like to see the campground, to respect the campers that are already camping.
