The Park Authority's three lakefront parks are like the chocolate chips in a cookie — large chunks of nature in the midst of a generally suburban county. They are ideal platforms for learning about the outdoors.
Programs are available Monday through Friday mornings (start time: 10 am) from September until June. Staff permitting, programs may also be scheduled on select afternoons. Students may be divided into smaller groups.
Burke Lake Park has a variety of picnic areas, shelters, and amphitheaters perfect for hosting birthdays, weddings, church events and picnic outings. Reservable areas are open from dawn to dusk and fees are based on a per day, single use rate. The amphitheaters are rentable for a 4-hour block minimum.
The campgrounds at Burke Lake Park in Fairfax Station, Virginia, have 100 wooded campsites (no electric or water hookups), a bathhouse with sinks, showers and toilets, a dump station, public phones, a camp store, ice, picnic tables, grills and fire rings. The campgrounds are open Mid April to late October.
