Burke Lake Golf Course

Job Title: Golf Course Maintenance Worker
Location: Burke Lake Golf Center
Hours: Part time/30 hours per week average. Will include mornings, afternoons, and nights. Expected to work weekends and holidays.
Salary: $18 to $20.00 per hour

Summary: This position is responsible for maintaining the exceptional quality of the golf course grounds and ensuring optimal playing conditions for all patrons.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Turf Care

  • Mowing greens, tees, fairways, and rough using various types of mowers (walk-behind, riding, etc.).
  • Maintaining proper cutting heights and patterns for different areas of the course.
  • Edging cart paths, bunkers, and other landscaped areas.
  • Aerating and verticutting greens and fairways to improve drainage and turf health.
  • Applying fertilizers, pesticides, and other treatments under the supervision of a certified pest applicator to maintain healthy turfgrass.
  • Overseeding and topdressing to promote healthy turf growth.
  • Identifying and treating turf diseases and pests.

Bunker Maintenance

  • Raking bunkers to maintain consistent sand depth and texture.
  • Repairing bunker edges and faces.
  • Removing debris and weeds from bunkers.

Other Course Features

  • Maintaining water features, such as ponds and streams.
  • Trimming trees and shrubs.
  • Maintaining flower beds and other landscaped areas.
  • Repairing divots and ball marks.

Equipment Operation and Maintenance

  • Operating and maintaining a variety of golf course maintenance equipment, including mowers, tractors, sprayers, and hand tools.
  • Performing routine maintenance on equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, and sharpening blades.

Safety

  • Following all safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in golf course maintenance or landscaping is a plus.
  • Knowledge of turfgrass management practices is preferred.
  • Ability to operate various types of maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, and kneel.
  • Regularly required to lift and carry heavy objects.
  • Exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and sun.

Position Title: Mulligan’s Grill Attendant
Location: Burke Lake Golf Center; 6915 Ox Rd, Burke, VA 22039
Hours: Year-round part-time work. Approximately 12 to 21 hours per week. Shifts may include opening, closing, weekends, and some holidays.  
Salary: Pay for this position starts at $15.00 per hour and may increase based on experience and certifications.

Duties Include: 

  • Provide exceptional customer service to patrons.
  • Serve food and drinks.
  • Operate a cash register/point of sales system.
  • Process both cash and credit card transactions.
  • Clean tables, counters, and kitchen. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Food Handling/safety experience
  • Janitorial experience (general cleaning)
  • Point of Sale (POS)/Cash Drawer experience

Minimum Qualifications:

Position Title: Golf Instructor
Location: Burke Lake Golf Center, 6915 Ox Rd, Fairfax Station, VA 22039
Hours: Varies by season but approximately 8 to 10 hours per week.

  • Hours worked will likely be reduced during the off season.

Salary: $70.00 per hour.

Overview: The Fairfax County Park Authority is seeking passionate and knowledgeable Golf Instructors to provide high-quality instruction to golfers of all skill levels. This position is responsible for leading individual and group lessons, supporting golf programs and clinics, and creating a welcoming, positive learning environment for participants.

Duties:

  • The Staff professional is responsible for teaching a variety of class levels, summer camps and special event clinics.
  • Coordinates directly with students to establish and/or cancel appointments and classes.
  • The Staff professional may conduct individual or private lessons that are either assigned by the Head Professional or are acquired personally through individual contacts and marketing materials.
  • Ensures BLGA’s visibility of all instruction activities and student contact information.  
  • Ensures the facility is prepared for instruction prior to the start of scheduled activities.  
  • The professional is also responsible for growing the game by explaining etiquette and on course tactics to beginners.
  • Staff professionals must be flexible with scheduling lessons and classes.
  • Class instruction may take place on any day of the week.
  • Reports to the Director of the Golf Academy.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Knowledge of golf fundamentals, rules, and instructional techniques.
  • Experience playing golf and/or providing golf instruction to individuals or groups.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with participants of varying ages and skill levels.
  • Ability to create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Salary: $12.41 to $15.00 per hour.  
 
Overview: The Fairfax County Park Authority is seeking a dependable, motivated, and hardworking individual to join our team as a Maintenance Worker. This position is responsible for maintaining the exceptional quality of the golf course grounds and ensuring optimal playing conditions for all patrons.  
 
Duties:  

  • Mowing greens, tees, fairways, and rough using various types of mowers (walk-behind, riding, etc.)

Location: Greendale Golf Course, 6700 Telegraph Rd, Alexandria, VA 22310
Hours: Seasonal and year-round part-time work. 20-30 hours per week. 
Salary: Range from $12.77-$15 depending on experience

Overview: Greendale Golf Course is seeking an eager and willing to learn individual to come join the team as a Pro Shop Attendant. This individual must be responsible, friendly, and an excellent communicator. The Pro Shop Attendant will also receive golf benefits at the golf course of employment!

Duties: 

  • Opening the facility and setting the daily phone message.
  • Operating a point of sale (POS) system.
  • Selling memberships, food/beverage items, and pro-shop merchandise.
  • Handling multiple phone calls and facility information inquiries.
  • Demonstrating the ability to multi-task during high traffic operating hours.
  • Maintaining front desk cleanliness and other basic custodial needs.
  • Providing comfortable and inviting experiences for customers.
  • Demonstrating critical thinking skills and resourcefulness when handling problems that may occur.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 16 years old or older to apply.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Weekend availability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of experience in customer service.
  • Cash Handling experience.  
  • Golf retail experience.
  • Experience playing/knowledge of golf.

Location: Jefferson District Park and Golf Course; 7900 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042.
Hours: Hours vary depending on the season. Hours include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Salary: Starting at $17.21 per hour.

Overview: Manager on duty with a variety of responsibilities to include opening and/or closing facility; conducting register close-out at end-of-day; and assisting customers in all aspects of golf course operation, including the pro shop and food and beverage department.

Duties Include:

  • Acts as manager on duty in the absence of the General Manager or Assistant Manager.
  • Assists in managing the golf course tee sheet and point of sale system.
  • Assists in the food and beverage department by cooking food orders for customers.
  • Responsible for closing cash registers and completing nightly closing paperwork as the closing manager and opening the clubhouse facility and preparing it for the day’s business as the opening manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma.
  • Must be available to work a combination of mornings, evenings, weekends & holidays.
  • Excellent customer service skills required.
  • Must be able to work as early as 5:00am and as late as 9:30pm.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Golf experience preferred.
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Previous food service experience preferred. This position will be required to obtain a food manager license soon after employment begins.

Overview: Jefferson Golf Course is seeking a Pro Shop/Mini Golf Attendant. Under the supervision of the manager on duty, the pro shop/mini golf attendant performs various tasks, including pro shop and mini golf sales, some snack bar duties, and basic custodial duties.

Duties Include:

  • Performing sale transactions for customers in the clubhouse operation and mini golf operation
  • Provides exceptional customer service and creates a comfortable and
  • Inviting experience for customers
  • Performs basic food service duties in the snack bar
  • Performs basic custodial duties at the clubhouse and mini golf course

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task during high traffic operating hours

Oakmont Golf Center

Position Title: Closing Driving Range Attendant
Location: Oakmont Golf Center; 3136 Jermantown Rd, Oakton, VA 22124
Hours: Seasonal and year-round part-time work. Approximately 16 to 24 hours per week. Shifts end as late as 10 p.m.  
Salary: Starting at $15.00 per hour, plus golf benefits. 
 

Overview: Oakmont Golf Center is looking for an eager and hard-working individual to assist in the operations on our driving range. 
 

Duties Include: 

  • Drives the range picker vehicle to collect range balls.
  • Cleans range balls and fill dispensers.
  • Collects range baskets from bays.
  • Cleans bathrooms and pulls trash on the driving range and around the pro shop.
  • Stocks drinks in the pro shop.
  • Monitors the driving range to ensure customers are adhering to rules and are safe.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Must be 18 years old or older to apply.
  • Has a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Overview: Pinecrest Golf Course is seeking an eager and willing to learn individual to come join the team as a Pro Shop Attendant. This individual must be responsible, friendly, and an excellent commu-nicator. The Pro Shop Attendant will also receive golf benefits at the golf course of employment!
 

Duties: 

  • Operating a point of sale (POS) system.
  • Selling memberships, food/beverage items, and pro-shop merchandise.
  • Handling multiple phone calls and facility information inquiries.
  • Demonstrating the ability to multi-task during high traffic operating hours.
  • Maintaining front desk cleanliness and other basic custodial needs.
  • Providing comfortable and inviting experiences for customers.
  • Demonstrating critical thinking skills and resourcefulness when handling problems that may occur.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years old or older to apply.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Weekend availability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of experience in customer service.
  • Cash Handling experience.
