Burke Lake Golf Course

Job Title: Golf Course Maintenance Worker
Location: Burke Lake Golf Center
Hours: Part time/30 hours per week average. Will include mornings, afternoons, and nights. Expected to work weekends and holidays.
Salary: $18 to $20.00 per hour

Summary: This position is responsible for maintaining the exceptional quality of the golf course grounds and ensuring optimal playing conditions for all patrons.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Turf Care

  • Mowing greens, tees, fairways, and rough using various types of mowers (walk-behind, riding, etc.).
  • Maintaining proper cutting heights and patterns for different areas of the course.
  • Edging cart paths, bunkers, and other landscaped areas.
  • Aerating and verticutting greens and fairways to improve drainage and turf health.
  • Applying fertilizers, pesticides, and other treatments under the supervision of a certified pest applicator to maintain healthy turfgrass.
  • Overseeding and topdressing to promote healthy turf growth.
  • Identifying and treating turf diseases and pests.

Bunker Maintenance

  • Raking bunkers to maintain consistent sand depth and texture.
  • Repairing bunker edges and faces.
  • Removing debris and weeds from bunkers.

Other Course Features

  • Maintaining water features, such as ponds and streams.
  • Trimming trees and shrubs.
  • Maintaining flower beds and other landscaped areas.
  • Repairing divots and ball marks.

Equipment Operation and Maintenance

  • Operating and maintaining a variety of golf course maintenance equipment, including mowers, tractors, sprayers, and hand tools.
  • Performing routine maintenance on equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, and sharpening blades.

Safety

  • Following all safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in golf course maintenance or landscaping is a plus.
  • Knowledge of turfgrass management practices is preferred.
  • Ability to operate various types of maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license.

Position Title: Mulligan’s Grill Attendant
Location: Burke Lake Golf Center; 6915 Ox Rd, Burke, VA 22039
Hours: Seasonal and year-round part-time work. Approximately 12 to 21 hours per week. Shifts may include opening, closing, weekends, and some holidays.  
Salary: Pay for this position starts at $15.00 per hour and may increase based on experience and certifications.

Position Title: Golf Academy Director
Location:  Burke Lake Golf Center
Hours: Varies depending on the season
Salary: Up to $75 per hr.

Overview: The Burke Lake Golf Academy Director is responsible for the overall management of the academy reporting to both the General Manager & AGM for the Burke Lake Golf Course. In addition, the Academy Director oversees club fitting and club sales.

Qualifications: 

  • Must have a current certified Class A LPGA or Class A PGA or USGTF membership with at least 5 years’ teaching experience.
  • A thorough knowledge of clubs and personalized club fitting is required.  
  • Possesses basic proficiency in MS Office, scheduling & inventory tracking. 
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings and holidays.
  • The Golf Academy Director works within a team and should have excellent inter-personal skills.   
     

Duties:

Partakes and Rec Dynamics

  • Work with the academy administrator to establish which classes will be offered for each session
  • Ensure that classes are set up in Partakes accurately
  • Work with the academy administrator to monitor the attendance in each class to determine which classes will go and which classes may need to be cancelled due to lack of enrollment
  • Publish the class lesson schedule to ensure the main pro-shop desk and range crew are aware of upcoming classes and special events
  • Responsibilities also include continuously developing new curriculum for BLGA classes and camps.  Serves as liaison between BLGA and golf equipment vendors.

Academy Activities

  • The Academy Director will themself perform class instruction as well as private instruction
  • Assign classes to instructors
  • Monitor overall effectiveness and customer satisfaction
  • Ensure classes are administered consistently and in accordance with the BLGA instructor’s manual
  • Respond to customer issues/concerns to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Monitor instructor lesson logs to ensure they agree with time sheets
  • Work with outside organizations on events such as women on course, manufactures club fitting days, etc.
  • Maintain the Special events calendar and ensure instructors are assigned as need-ed
  • Manage the ordering of materials such as business cards, rack cards, instruction closet supplies
  • Insure the overall profitability of the academy through expense control and revenue enhancement

Club fitting and club sales

  • Maintain the club fitting cart
  • Process the receipt and eventual return of club fitting product from each of the ap-proved manufacturers
  • Oversee the club fitting service including the ordering and delivery of club sales
  • Promote the sale of clubs in stock in the pro-shop
  • Keep the binders for club sales by manufacturers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of temperatures for multiple hours. Ability to stand and walk for two hours without resting is preferred.  Must be able to carry 30 lbs. for 300 feet.

Jefferson District Park and Golf Course

Position Title: Manager on Duty
Location: Jefferson District Park and Golf Course; 7900 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042.
Hours: Hours vary depending on the season. Hours include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Salary: Starting at $17.21 per hour.

Overview: Manager on duty with a variety of responsibilities to include opening and/or closing facility; conducting register close-out at end-of-day; and assisting customers in all aspects of golf course operation, including the pro shop and food and beverage department.

Duties Include:

  • Acts as manager on duty in the absence of the General Manager or Assistant Manager.
  • Assists in managing the golf course tee sheet and point of sale system.
  • Assists in the food and beverage department by cooking food orders for customers.
  • Responsible for closing cash registers and completing nightly closing paperwork as the closing manager and opening the clubhouse facility and preparing it for the day’s business as the opening manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma.
  • Must be available to work a combination of mornings, evenings, weekends & holidays.
  • Excellent customer service skills required.
  • Must be able to work as early as 5:00am and as late as 9:30pm.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Golf experience preferred.
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Previous food service experience preferred. This position will be required to obtain a food manager license soon after employment begins.

Overview: Jefferson Golf Course is seeking a Pro Shop/Mini Golf Attendant. Under the supervision of the manager on duty, the pro shop/mini golf attendant performs various tasks, including pro shop and mini golf sales, some snack bar duties, and basic custodial duties.

Oakmont Golf Center

Job Title: Closing Driving Range Attendant
Location: Oakmont Golf Center; 3136 Jermantown Rd, Oakton, VA 22124

Overview: The Range Attendant is responsible for managing the power carts, cleaning and parking power carts, operating the range picker, ensuring the range is clean and operational, and providing exceptional customer service. 

Duties: 

  • Provide power carts to customers throughout entire shift
  • Clean and park power carts
  • Drive the range picker vehicle to collect range balls.
  • Monitor the driving range to ensure customers are adhering to rules and are being safe. 
  • Clean and restock ball machines. 
  • Pick range balls and empty range ball baskets. 
  • Assists with light maintenance and cleaning.
