Burke Lake Golf Course

Position Title: Mulligans Grill Concession Attendant
Location: Burke Lake Golf Center, 6915 Ox Rd, Fairfax Station, VA 22039
Hours: This position is scheduled 4 days a week, including one weekend day. Shift lengths are generally 6-8 hours long.
Salary: Pay for this position starts at $15.00 per hour and may increase based on experience and certifications.

Duties Include: 

  • Provide exceptional customer service to patrons. 
  • Serve food and drinks.
  • Cook Hamburgers, Hotdogs
  • Operate a Fryer
  • Operate a cash register/point of sales system. 
  • Process both cash and credit card transactions. 
  • Clean tables, counters, and kitchen.

Job Title: Golf Course Maintenance Worker
Location: Burke Lake Golf Center
Hours: Part time/30 hours per week average. Will include mornings, afternoons, and nights. Expected to work weekends and holidays.
Salary: $18 to $20.00 per hour

Summary: This position is responsible for maintaining the exceptional quality of the golf course grounds and ensuring optimal playing conditions for all patrons.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Turf Care

  • Mowing greens, tees, fairways, and rough using various types of mowers (walk-behind, riding, etc.).
  • Maintaining proper cutting heights and patterns for different areas of the course.
  • Edging cart paths, bunkers, and other landscaped areas.
  • Aerating and verticutting greens and fairways to improve drainage and turf health.
  • Applying fertilizers, pesticides, and other treatments under the supervision of a certified pest applicator to maintain healthy turfgrass.
  • Overseeding and topdressing to promote healthy turf growth.
  • Identifying and treating turf diseases and pests.

Bunker Maintenance

  • Raking bunkers to maintain consistent sand depth and texture.
  • Repairing bunker edges and faces.
  • Removing debris and weeds from bunkers.

Other Course Features

  • Maintaining water features, such as ponds and streams.
  • Trimming trees and shrubs.
  • Maintaining flower beds and other landscaped areas.
  • Repairing divots and ball marks.

Equipment Operation and Maintenance

  • Operating and maintaining a variety of golf course maintenance equipment, including mowers, tractors, sprayers, and hand tools.
  • Performing routine maintenance on equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, and sharpening blades.

Safety

  • Following all safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in golf course maintenance or landscaping is a plus.
  • Knowledge of turfgrass management practices is preferred.
  • Ability to operate various types of maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, and kneel.
  • Regularly required to lift and carry heavy objects.

Duties Include: 

  • Operating a point of sale (POS) system.
  • Selling memberships, food/beverage items, and pro-shop merchandise.
  • Handling multiple phone calls and facility information inquiries.
  • Demonstrating the ability to multi-task during high traffic operating hours.
  • Maintaining front desk cleanliness and other basic custodial needs. 
  • Providing comfortable and inviting experiences for customers.
  • Demonstrating critical thinking skills and resourcefulness when handling problems that may occur.

Greendale Golf Course

Salary: $12.00 to $15.00 per hour.
Hours: 20-40 hours/week, may not exceed 900 hours per calendar year.
Description:  Push mowing, operate small equipment including weed eater and blower. Weeding and mulching, landscaping and gardening. Raking sand bunkers, and debris removal.

Jefferson District Park and Golf Course

Position Title: Manager on Duty
Location: Jefferson District Park and Golf Course; 7900 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042.
Hours: Hours vary depending on the season. Hours include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Salary: Starting at $17.21 per hour.

Overview: Manager on duty with a variety of responsibilities to include opening and/or closing facility; conducting register close-out at end-of-day; and assisting customers in all aspects of golf course operation, including the pro shop and food and beverage department.

Duties Include:

  • Acts as manager on duty in the absence of the General Manager or Assistant Manager.
  • Assists in managing the golf course tee sheet and point of sale system.
  • Assists in the food and beverage department by cooking food orders for customers.
  • Responsible for closing cash registers and completing nightly closing paperwork as the closing manager and opening the clubhouse facility and preparing it for the day’s business as the opening manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma.
  • Must be available to work a combination of mornings, evenings, weekends & holidays.
  • Excellent customer service skills required.
  • Must be able to work as early as 5:00am and as late as 9:30pm.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Golf experience preferred.
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Previous food service experience preferred. This position will be required to obtain a food manager license soon after employment begins.

Note: This position is required to work a minimum of 1,040 hours per year but not to exceed 1,560 hours. Hours per week vary by season and business needs and can include up to 40 hours/week. Individuals in this position are eligible for benefits.

Overview: Laurel Hill Golf Club is seeking a Pro Shop Attendant. Under the supervision of the manager on duty, the pro shop attendant Performs various tasks, including pro-shop sales, assisting customers in all aspects of the golf course operations, and maintaining pro-shop cleanliness. 
Duties Include:  

  • Performing sale transactions for memberships, food/beverage, and pro-shop merchandise by operating a point of sales (POS) system.

Overview: The person in this position operates a beverage cart on course during weekdays, weekends, and special events. The Beverage Cart Attendant sells beer, wine, soft drinks, water, hot dogs, and other drinks and snacks.

Duties Include: 

  • Drive beverage cart around either one or both courses, providing customers with drinks, food & snacks. 
  • Will be responsible to count outgoing and incoming daily inventory and reconcile both inventory and cash/credit sales at end of shift. 
  • Will process cash transitions and credit transactions using a remote credit card terminal and Ipad.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Must be at least 21 years of age. 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license. 
  • Must have cash handling experience.
